Utilizing the Museum’s unparalleled collection of Civil War artifacts, an exciting handling collection of reproduction items, and our distinctive historic sites, American Civil War Museum educators at our Clay Street location, Historic Tredegar location, and Appomattox location provide programming that brings students face to face with history.


The Museum is now seeking applicants for its new Teacher Advisory Council. If you are interested, please submit the attached application by October 31st. 

We are looking for Virginia educators who: 

  • Teach at any grade level, but particularly those who cover content related to the American Civil War.
  • Are enthusiastic about helping our organization create excellent, relevant, and useful offerings for teachers and their students, for use on-site at the museums and in the classroom.
  • Can help shape our vision for how we want to best serve educators and their students.
  • Are flexible, creative, innovative, and reflective.
