“The Confederate Surrender at Greensboro” documents the tense, confused days of April and May, 1865 in North Carolina.  Drawn from over two hundred eyewitness accounts, many never before published, this work tells of the events from multiple points of view.  The surrender of the Confederate army camped around Greensboro was the largest troop surrender of the war, and contrasted sharply with the more formal surrender at Appomattox. Robert M (Bert) Dunkerly is an author and historian who is active in historic preservation.  He is a park ranger at Richmond National Battlefield Park, and formerly worked at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park.  This is his eighth book and was released June 19, 2013.
