Alfred Jones, local pastor and genealogist, will lecture on the subject of genealogy and show attendees how they can look into their own family’s past. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm and the lecture will begin at 7:00 pm. Reservations are required. The Museum of the Confederacy-Appomattox will be offering free admission on December 1st in coordination with Appomattox's Community of Candles event. There will be an ornament-making workshop and Santa will be on hand to take pictures and hear Christmas wishes.

Come find out how people celebrated Christmas during the Victorian Era, which included the years of the Civil War. First, a Powerpoint presentation will cover Christmas traditions of the time. Then take a guided tour of the White House of the Confederacy, specially decorated for the Holidays! Cost: Free for members, $5 for non-members

Enjoy free admission to the Museum and White House of the Confederacy along with refreshments, children's crafts, a visit with Santa, period music, living history, and other activities as we participate in Richmond’s longest-running holiday open house. Other sites include the Valentine Richmond History Center, the John Marshal House, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, Monumental Church, and the Virginia State Capitol.  Shuttles will be available to transport visitors between the attractions. Cost: Free.

Every second Wednesday of the month, the Museum of the Confederacy and the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park are partnering to bring the Civil War Sesquicentennial to Appomattox. Each month, a knowledgable speaker will lead a discussion on a topic or event's 150th anniversary. The talks will take place upstairs at Baine's Books and Coffee.

Throughout the Sesquicentennial of the Civil War, the Museum of the Confederacy-Richmond will be hosting a monthly series of talks devoted to a topic or event's 150th anniversary. These talks, normally scheduled for the third Friday of the month, are free for members and Richmond area residents, and are included with Museum admission for all others.
