As an important part of the Museum’s educational experience, our living history program helps bring history to life. You may recognize from prints and photographs what a Civil War soldier looked like, but an opportunity to interact with one is even more exciting, especially for kids.
Most of our volunteers have no formal program. They simply set up and interact with Museum visitors, allowing them to ask questions and handle items. Some portray actual figures from the war and almost all have a background in Civil War re-enacting.
Living History volunteers are regularly scheduled during the summer months with varying schedules through out the remaining months. Call the MOC at 804-649-1861 to find out if Living History will be available during your visit!
