The March to Appomattox

On September 23, 2009, The Museum of the Confederacy broke ground, formally announcing the public phase of the Capital Campaign and in celebration of the future home for our new galleries:

The Museum of the Confederacy - Appomattox

This was the first phase of the larger plan announced in September 2009 to expand from a traditional one-site museum to a 'distributed system' of museums. The new sites in our plan include Appomattox, Fredericksburg area and Fort Monroe.
