02/10/2013 - 2:00pm - 3:00pm

By the time of the Civil War, Valentine’s Day was well-established and celebrated around the world.  No one had a greater impact on sending Valentines in the US than Esther Howland, the Mother of the American Valentine.  Come hear Linda Lipscomb, Site Director, explain the history of Valentine’s Day and learn through love letters, how romance was not stopped by the War. She’ll also share photographs of some Valentines in the Museum of the Confederacy’s collection.
