How did Appomattox Court House, a small town in Central Virginia, end up being the place where General Robert E. Lee surrendered his Army of Northern Virginia to General U. S. Grant? Hear Warren Taylor, local historian, explain how the two armies came to be at Appomattox Court House on that fateful day in April 1865 and why Lee felt he had no choice but to meet with General Grant even though he would “rather die a thousand deaths.” Cost: Included with Museum admission.

Local Historian Warren Taylor will also give a talk on “The Life of Robert E. Lee” at 11:00 a.m.
